The Full Story

Originally developed by Reto-Moto, founded by the creators of the Hitman franchise, Heroes & Generals was more than just a WWII shooter. It was a seamless blend of first-person combat and real-time strategy, where every skirmish, every shot, and every tactical push altered the larger war effort. It was the first of its kind: a "mass participation game" where ground-level actions fueled a continent-wide campaign.

Players chose between Germany, the United States, or the Soviet Union, enlisting in roles like infantry, paratrooper, recon, tank commander, or pilot. Victories on the battlefield earned upgrades, honors, and the power to influence the tide of war. From close-quarters city fights to armored clashes across the European countryside, Heroes & Generals delivered a war without end.

But like many wars, it ended.
On May 25th, 2023, the servers went dark. The war was over.

Or so it seemed.

Following the shutdown in 2023, development efforts quietly began behind the scenes. The goal: to restore Heroes & Generals to the experience that players remember, a large-scale, class-based war game where strategy and action collide across land, air, and command.

Rather than reinventing the game, the focus is on reviving its core systems, polishing what worked, and reintroducing content and mechanics from earlier versions that defined its legacy. Work is ongoing to ensure technical stability, improved balance, and long-term support.

No official release date has been announced.
Updates will be shared when the time is right.
